Understanding The Core Components Of Affiliate Marketing In 2021

Affiliate marketing is the oldest form of marketing that you can link back to the time of the invention of computers. Affiliate marketing is also called referral marketing. Though now we have got some emerging digital marketing platforms at our disposal, no one takes the place of affiliate marketing. I would like to educate my audience on the key aspects of this powerful digital marketing platform. Affiliate marketing started way before the invention of computers and the internet. The internet and digital technology have boosted the efficiency of affiliate marketing and taken it to a whole new level. It can be defined as a business model that requires an affiliate to promote or conduct a successful purchase of any selected product/s or services/s. In return, the affiliate will earn a commission for its marketing efforts. The affiliates use their efforts and marketing strategies to sell or promote products.

The structure of affiliate marketing is made up of four major components. If you understand these components you can easily understand the whole process of affiliate marketing regardless of the type of product/service.

Merchant

The merchant is the main part of the affiliate marketing scheme. It can either be in the form of a seller, retailer, or business. It is the main source of the product or service that an affiliate has to sell or promote to earn a commission. The merchants collaborate with the affiliates to make successful sales and promotions of a product. The merchant also decides and pays the fixed commissions to affiliates on successful sales.

Affiliate

An affiliate is a person who takes all the responsibility to sell or promote a product through its own marketing efforts. Any company, group, or individual can work as an affiliate to work as a promoter for any other company, brand, or individual. An affiliate uses its own skills and marketing platforms to sell a product through an affiliate link provided by the merchant. The amount of earning and commission heavily depends on the skills and efforts of an affiliate. An affiliate can help many merchants simultaneously to promote their products and thus can increase the chances of earning more commission through sales.

Affiliate uses social media or their dedicated websites or blogs to promote different products of merchants. The performance of affiliate marketing depends on the traffic of your website or blog. It also depends on your ability to reach more customers to increase your chances of generating more sales.

Customer

Customer is the focal point of both the merchant and affiliate in this affiliate marketing system. You have to reach more potential customers to increase the chances of sales and commission. As an affiliate marketer, you will need to approach customers through various digital platforms. You will assess the performance of your efforts and will need to change it accordingly. Customers tend to visit those links that look natural and promote products in an attractive and decent manner.

Network

The network is the last but very important factor in the process of affiliate marketing services. The network represents the platform and mode of communication that an affiliate will be required to use for marketing the products. From network it can be either your website, online store, facebook page or mobile app for instance. Websites, social media platforms and mobile apps are the most dynamic channels to boost your affiliate marketing efforts.
